Vogal was founded in 1984 and originally specialised in mechanical installation rapidly expanding into electrical installation, breakdown and preventative maintenance.

Through the steady and controlled growth of the Vogal Group, we have developed a range of services – M + E installations, electrical design, software, and project management, complimented by our in-house training service.

Through our reputation for reliability and quality of work, we have broadened our customer base, providing a secure and solid financial foundation on which to continue the controlled expansion and success of our company in partnership with industry.

Vogal have a significant number of blue chip clients. Over the past few years the management team and workforce have built up a wealth of experience and knowledge of the particular and unique requirements of the process and manufacturing industries.

Safety, reliability, cleanliness, speed, accuracy, efficiency and careful forward planning are all essential requirements to minimise downtime, both in the installation of machinery, equipment and its continued maintenance.

All of the company’s activities are carried out using methods that satisfy the requirements of ISO 9001, (None accredited). A number of “blue chip” clients have awarded Vogal vendor assurance status and conduct regular audits of its operating systems.

Our established record in this method of handling projects is seen as an attractive alternative by a number of Vogal’s existing clients, as is our approach with our main suppliers.  Both engineering and commercial staff carry out regular audits and appraisals.

BUILDING PRODUCTS MANUFACTURER

Vogal successfully carried out the relocation of manufacturing facilities from Staffordshire to South Yorkshire, this was achieved on time to budget without any H & S incidents. The three work packages, machines, services and electrical infrastructure were coordinated and Project Managed by our team very professionally. Our H & S record was exemplary with particular attention paid to auditing, monitoring, risk assessments, method statements and methods of working.

We ensured that robust remits, specification, working solutions and value engineering packages in a number of engineering disciplines were delivered :-

  • Electrical infrastructure and power distribution
  • Machine and tooling cooling systems
  • Structural engineering steelwork
  • Machinery uplift, transport and installation
  • Project Management & Project Engineering

This is the second large key project undertaken for this company since 2003 and yet again we delivered best value fit for purpose solutions to our customers.


TOBACCO PROCESSING PLANT
Contract Value £750,000
Completed 2007

The client engaged the extensive services of Vogal utilising both the Mechanical and Electrical expertise in a turnkey project, for the removal of intricate elements of their existing process / packaging lines and carried out the refurbishment of the plant with new equipment, to the complete satisfaction of the client.

M & E disciplines included:-
High pressure CO2 pipe work – all die pen and x-rayed
Platform fabrication and installation
Heavy lifting and cranege
Mechanical assembly and installation.

  • Isolation, locking off supplies, de-commissioning of machinery, which included removal of all obsolete wiring, cable management/containment and electrical control panels, leaving everything in a safe and tidy manner.
  • Certain machines and elements were removed and re-instated back into the new process thus saving the client added expense.
  • From the panel drawings supplied by the manufacturers machinery, our technical experts, were able to compile schematic schedules/drawings to assist our engineers in the installation of all the field wiring, which eliminates fault finding when commissioning.
  • All aspects of Electrical Installation work was carried out, including the installation of control cabling and data cabling (Ethernet), steel trunking, basket tray, normal tray work, s.w.a. cables, Cat5E cables, YY cables, SY Cables, cable termination in panels, installation of lighting, power distribution.
  • Assisting in the commissioning of the plant.
  • All aspects of the work was carried out to the highest criteria, encompassing strict Health and Safety procedures and internal audits which are overseen by our H & S Advisor, who is also competent and qualified to run C.D.M. projects.
  • The compliance of testing and documentation to B.S. 7671.

Timescale for this project were extremely tight as the client supplies both UK and European markets. With that in mind the retirals and installation were undertaken on a 24 – 7 basis, all on time and within budget.

Vogal assumed the role of Principle contractor under CDM regulations. Through detailed project planning and the support of the whole installation team Vogal safety record for this project was exemplary.


MEAT BLENDING AND GRINDING PRODUCTION FACILITY

Completed 2005

We were recently contracted to design and install a 10 tonne per hour meat blending and grinding production facility. Our instructions were to incorporate some second hand machinery already purchased into the line.

12 weeks later the equipment was installed, commissioned and handed over to the client. All technical file information was handed over at the start of process commissioning. The project was delivered on budget and two weeks ahead of schedule.


WATER PROCESSING, BOTTLING AND PACKAGING FACILITY

Completed 2005

Vogal successfully completed a turnkey contract to carry out all of the enabling works, including major building works, civils, site H.V. power supply, steam raising, compressed air systems, effluent handling and storm water system for this client.

The contract was completed safely, on time, within budget and to the client's high quality specification.

Vogal established a site-based project management and supervision team, including sub-contracting the CDM specialist input for all contractors and sub-contractors.

In addition to the “normal” requirements, Vogal were responsible for obtaining a new high voltage (11,000 volt) supply to the site, which is located within a National Trust area and is a designated S.S.S.I.

Also, the provision of a new gas supply to the site entailed the laying of a main over approximately half a kilometre of National Trust property, as did the effluent and storm water systems. Vogal negotiated all of the wayleaves and dealt with the landowners as well as statutory bodies and local authorities



SPECIALITY SUGAR MILLING & HANDLING SYSTEMS
Contract Value £4.25m
Completed 2003

Vogal undertook this turnkey contract which included the refurbishment of an existing factory building and the supply and installation of a number of speciality sugar milling lines. The total value of the project was in excess of £4.25M.

Vogal were responsible for the planning and implementation of the entire project including working under the requirements of the CDM Regulations.

A site-based management and supervision team was established, including a sub-contract CDM specialist, and Vogal took responsibility for all other contractors.

The contract was completed safely, on time, within budget and to the client's specification.

 


NEW, AUTOMATED ENGINE ASSEMBLY LINE
Contract Value £2.3m
Completed 2005

Vogal successfully removed existing conveyor systems and manual assembly lines and were subsequently awarded the contract to carry out the enabling works in preparation for the new line and were appointed to manage the overall project.

The enabling works included obtaining planning consent for the building alterations, providing architectural services to design new office and amenity facilities and the management of the various subcontractors who were appointed to these contracts.

On completion of the enabling works, Vogal were also successful in bidding for the installation of the new engine build assembly line.

The total value of the contract was £2.3M.
