Emergency Lighting Audit

15 July 2025

It’s the legal responsibility of the Duty Holder to make sure your emergency lighting system is operational and compliant. Your system must have sufficient illumination to allow building occupants to safely evacuate in an emergency or main power supply loss. Your emergency lighting arrangements must adhere to BS 5266-1, which covers design, installation, and maintenance. Other relevant standards include BS EN 1838 and BS EN 50172. They are crucial for meeting legal requirements and ensuring occupant safety.

Vogal Group can assist by conducting an emergency lighting audit for you. This involves inspection and testing of a building's emergency lighting system to ensure correct operation and compliance with safety regulations. We can then work with you to create a compliant lighting system that’s tailored to the requirements of your building. Our electrical services includes design, installation, routine testing, or any required repairs.

The pictures above show a selection of non-compliant emergency light fittings that we found on recent audits. Our reports highlighted many emergency light fittings not compliant with current safety regulations. If you think we can help with your emergency lighting arrangements, please get in touch. We will arrange for you to speak with our industrial and commercial lighting specialists.
