We were engaged to provide industrial mechanical services in the water utilities sector. This was to support a water treatment solutions specialist with the installation of a state-of-the-art water filtration system. They had completed the design works for the project and contracted for all equipment, tanks and pipework to be prefabricated abroad.

Our contribution included building, installing, testing and commissioning the water filtration system and the associated industrial pipework installation. This included all equipment, pipework, tanks, valves, pumps, platforms, steelwork, etc. We manufactured all pipework support brackets. There was over 9500KG of support steel work, all manufactured and galvanised in the UK.

Most projects present challenges that we have to address. In this case, where the supplied prefabricated pipework did not correctly match the provided drawings, we rectified the problem. This involved an additional 28,000 inches of welding. Additionally, this project involved several complex lifts. This was due to the sizes and weights of the equipment and building restrictions, which limited what lifting equipment could be used.

This is now the largest industrial filter membrane Plant in Europe and treats river water to the high standards required for public consumption. It has delivered significant improvements in the water supply, at their primary reservoir site, while protecting the local environment.
